Ineke Houtman majored in directing and camera at the NFTVA in Amsterdam in 1981. Her final exams film received the Special Jury Prize at the International Student Festival in Tours. With “Idomeneo” (1993), an opera film, she won the prize for Best Dutch Children’s TV Program and the Prix Jeunesse. The film was also nominated for an Emmy.
“Madelief, scratches in the table” (1998), “Polleke” (2003) and “The indian” (2010) were shown at many festivals, including Berlin and won numerous of prizes. “Madelief, scratches in the table” was the Dutch entry for the Oscar.
Ineke also made the telefilm “In the Still of the Night” (2004), awarded in Torino, and the short films “Voila Madame” and “Sahara”. The TV series “The honorable misses” (1990), “Madelief 2” (1995) and “Fantastic tales from the north” (2008) all won the prize for Best Dutch Children’s TV program.
Her last film “My grandpa the bankrobber” (2010) was awarded a Golden Film for having attracted over 100.000 visitors.
